Identity, Inc.’s board of directors is pleased to announce that Laura Carpenter (they/them/she/her) has accepted the position of Executive Director, beginning Monday, July 6.
The Board conducted a rigorous search and made this selection based on Mx. Carpenter’s extensive experience and professional achievements. Mx. Carpenter is an award-winning nonprofit leader with a passion for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. They are a writer and activist who has worked for community-minded organizations for more than two decades, with the last ten years focused on marketing, communications and public relations. They led marketing and PR efforts for the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and, most recently, Anchorage Concert Association, and has been a contributing writer to many publications, including Alaska Pride Blog, The New York Times, The Guardian, Anchorage Daily News, and Lambda Literary.
Mx. Carpenter’s many talents, their collaborative and engaging leadership approach, and her wide-ranging experience will further enhance Identity’s record as a high-integrity, vibrant, diverse, inclusive, and growing community leader.
Mx. Carpenter will work closely with the Board to integrate new projects in the near future of the organization and realize its strategic goals and vision. These projects will enhance the value of community experience; develop external relationships to enhance contributions to knowledge, policy, and practice; and expand organizational capacity to fulfill Identity’s strategic priorities, vision, and mission.
