As of this weekend, this calendar was accurate and ready for printing. Unfortunately, with the emergency response to Covid-19 shutting down all gatherings, each one of these events is no longer allowed to go on. If you are like me, you often lament that there is not enough time in the day to achieve all that we need to do. Well, it looks like our schedules just opened up. We must not forget that this time of quarantine is a way for the community to work together to deal with the virus. Our focus often tends to be on ourselves how situations affect us but remember that you are not alone in this. There are so many careers are pretty much impossible to do from home. For each event listed on this calendar, there are a multitude of people left without a job. While you may say “Dang! I’m bummed this concert will be canceled,” musicians, promoters, cooks, bartenders, and servers who make all of these events possible are now frantically trying to figure out how they will be able to afford food & rent during this crisis.
Rather than think of this time in quarantine as a prison term, I’d like to look at it as a chance for self-care and growth. There is now plenty of time for me to tackle my postponed New Year’s resolutions like reading more books, exercising, and learning new skills. I have finally picked up a guitar and have committed myself to spending at least 30 minutes each day plugging away at this instrument that I thought I would never be able to play.
In order to make learning to play an instrument easier for you, AK Concerts will be listing helpful, instructional videos for you to view online at akconcerts.com/learn. Our hope is that this time spent fighting the Corona virus will be beneficial to us, to you, and to our community at large.
Do you have goals that are achievable during self-isolation?
