Hello Alaskans,

24-year-old gay male here. I have been out for just a couple of years and I don’t think that I want to settle down. All I see from people that I know in relationships is a lot of jealousy and fighting, and I am not interested in that. I am really having fun with as many people as possible, and I really enjoy anonymous hookups and one-night stands, as hard as that is to do here in Anchorage.

Recently I was also laid off from my job due to the Covid19 stuff and while I am going to be ok financially, I am getting more worried about keeping up my sexual activities. I don’t want to get sick, but with all of this free time I could be having a lot of fun that doesn’t cost any money. Is there a way to know if someone has it?

Hmmmm. Something struck as interesting when we were reading your letter kiddo. You could have listed several STD’s instead of the current Coronavirus pandemic that we are experiencing, and not only would it have read the same, but our answer would be the same also.

No, there is no way to tell if someone has it just by looking at them. At least with the Coronavirus if you get close enough to them to hear labored breathing or feel a fever, you might be able to suspect. However currently people can be carriers and pass it on to you without you knowing. Since you are 24 years old, we assume that you are probably in pretty good health, but you might pass it on to someone that isn’t so lucky so you always have the chance of infecting someone that could die.

The same goes for all communicable diseases. You can’t tell just by looking at someone what they may or may not have. The only way to be sure is to talk to them about their sexual history, what they consider to be safer sex, how often do they use condoms, when was the last time they were tested.

When it comes to anonymous sex and one-night stands, we are complete fans. It’s fun, it’s hot, and there is no commitment to trying to have a conversation after, or worse, breakfast and cuddles. It’s just sex for the sake of pleasure, and we happen to love that. The thing is that a conversation needs to happen beforehand. Ask them the important questions: Testing, relationship status, safe word, etc. Then for some things, ask for proof, especially testing and relationship status. We try to get the relationship status question answered in text or through an app that we can screenshot. Then when you come across someone who said that they were single and after the fact you are dealing with an angry partner, you can prove that it was not your fault and the anger can be directed at the person who actually deserves it, the one who was dishonest.

It’s a scary world out there right now, and you are right to be worried. Sometimes we think of our anxiety as always being just a mental disorder or the result of media frenzy. Sometimes our anxiety is just that part of us that wants to protect us and keep us safe. Sometimes it is best to just trust your gut. Stay safe, wash your hands, get tested.

Hi Alaskans,

I am one of the many people that has been laid off because of the current pandemic situation. My friends and I were joking that we should all just start performing for sites like OnlyFans or maybe put some paid videos up on PornHub. We all laughed it off, but now I am thinking about doing it for real.

I was wondering if your group has ever had any experience with something like this, and what are your thoughts on it?

Hi there. First of all, let us give you our sincere sympathy for what you are going through. This is a rough time for so many people, and there will be many in your situation that will start to consider sex work to make it through.

Let us start by saying that we fully support all sex workers that are in the business consensually and enthusiastically. Even if they are not enthusiastic, as long as they are doing what they want, we are in full support.

Thanks to the wonders of the Internet there are lots of ways that you can make money by turning other people on. We are about to experience what we like to call “Panic Masturbation.” Between people being bored, quarantined to their homes, and having more time to frequent the internet, many will find much more time to Jack off, (or Jill off, depending on the person.) Why not find the people that are turned on by exactly what you have to offer?

Do you have great feet? People will pay for pictures of that. Do you like to bake in the nude? There is an audience for that as well. As we always say, everyone is someone’s kink, and thanks to the internet you have a way to let them find you.

There are many ways that you can do this safely, but with the caveat that you must understand that anything that ends up on the Internet is going to be around forever. If you have tattoos that will distinguish you, think about covering those up. If you have specific items in your home that will identify you make sure those aren’t visible in pics or videos. Maybe rent a hotel room if you are going to make a video with others so that none of you are at risk.

Twitter is a great resource to see what other people are into, and also what other people’s content looks like. Reddit is another site that will help you see what kind of fantasies people are looking for.

The thing to remember at the end of the day is that the very first time that you sell images and videos of yourself online is that you need to be willing to eventually have a conversation with parents, siblings, or anyone else that you care about that might not be so supportive. Have that conversation in your head with them first. If you don’t like the imagined reaction, and aren’t comfortable having to back up your side, it’s probably not a good idea to do it, and maybe you should look into a Vlog, podcast, or scantily clad cleaning service first. Imagine the worst possible scenario first. If you can handle that, you are ready to proceed.

The Alaskan’s have been sick and healthy, and they have been sex workers and professionals. If you have questions about any of these things, or anything in between, drop a line to lastfrontierdating@outlook.com
