On 6/15/19 at around 1:26 a.m., a mid-shift patrol officer was in the area of C Street and W Fireweed Lane when he observed a black Lincoln SUV approaching the intersection; a quick computer check determined that the vehicle was registered as stolen.
The officer initiated a traffic stop but the adult female driver of the stolen vehicle refused to pull over and comply. More officers responded to the scene and managed to pin the suspect vehicle with their patrol cars, but the driver - and sole occupant of the stolen vehicle - was attempting to ram the patrol cars in an effort to escape. Officers gave the female suspect multiple verbal commands to exit the vehicle, but she refused to cooperate. After several minutes of negotiation, the suspect finally relented and exited the vehicle. She was taken into custody without incident and interviewed by APD Detectives. She was found to be in possession of a handgun that she did not inform the officers about, as well as multiple stolen credit cards, checks, and IDs belonging to multiple people, and multiple sets of keys for different vehicles.
The female suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Ta'Lora Thompson. She was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on multiple charges including Vehicle Theft I, three counts of Theft II, Misconduct Involving Weapons IV, and Resisting.
