Through the investigation the Anchorage Police Department has been determined that 37-year-old Joshua J. Pettis shot and killed his girlfriend, 51-year-old Tammy S. Vasofski, before turning the gun on himself. Next-of-kin notification has been completed.

While the circumstances surrounding the deaths are still being investigated, detectives believe they have made contact with everyone involved and are not currently looking for anyone. No charges have been filed at this time. The names of the deceased will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
At 6:12 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 1100-block of E 66th Avenue due to a report of a deceased individual. Upon arrival officers found two deceased adults inside the home. Homicide detectives and the crime scene team will be on location for quite some time processing the scene.
There have been no arrests at this time and no further details are being released.
