At 2:33 AM on June 28, 2019, a citizen called Police Dispatch to report they had seen people with guns get into a vehicle. Officers responded to the 2200-block of Eureka Street. While in route officers were informed the two vehicles involved, a pickup and a sedan, had left the area.
The 2009 white Ford pickup was located by officers at Spenard Road and W 30th Avenue where it had stopped, pulled over, and turned off its headlights. Both the driver and passenger were questioned; neither were charged.
The 1998 beige Audi was stopped by police at Tudor Road and Greenland Drive; all three occupants were taken into custody. While clearing the vehicle officers saw guns and drugs. After obtaining a search warrant officers seized three guns, meth, and drug paraphernalia. One of the guns had been reported as stolen to APD on October 21, 2018. It had been taken out of a vehicle that was parked in a business parking lot on the 300-block of E Northern Lights Boulevard. The suspect had gained access by damaging one of the door locks.
The driver of the Audi, 37-year-old Saiyachack Sisoukpanthong, was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II, and Theft II. The front passenger in the Audi, 33-year-old Thomas B. Schultz JR, was arrested and remanded on the charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV. The back seat passenger was not charged.
