At 9:50 PM on January 8, 2020, APD responded to Polar Bear Park at 801 Pine Street to meet with an adult male victim in reference to a threat. Initial indications are that the victim had inadvertently dropped his cell phone in a business parking lot in Anchorage. When he noticed the phone was missing, he called it. A female, later identified as 19-year-old Rosenda Davis, answered and stated she would meet up with the victim to return his phone. Afterwards the victim and Davis had a conversation over text wherein Davis told the victim he would need to pay her $200 to get the phone back and that she would have a gun in case he tried anything.

After the threat was made the victim contacted police. After the victim was able to provide proof that the stolen phone was his, swing shift patrol officers and officers assigned to the Community Action Policing Team (CAP) made contact with Davis. She was arrested and subsequently remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Theft II and Extortion.

The victim’s phone was recovered and returned to him.
