At 4:25 AM on March 7, 2020, a mid-shift officer notified Dispatch that he was attempting to catch up to a vehicle that was travelling 95 mph on the outbound lanes of the Glenn Highway which is a posted 65 mph zone. As the officer got closer to the white 2006 Nissan X-Terra, he observed the vehicle increase its speed to 105 mph. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the Nissan at the Palmer Alternate. As the officer approached the Nissan on foot, he saw a bottle of alcohol sitting on the left rear passenger seat. While contacting the driver, 19-year-old Micah P. Holub of Sandpoint, Idaho, the officer noticed signs of intoxication.

After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) the decision was made to charge Holub with Operating under the Influence. The officer retrieved the alcohol bottle from the vehicle which had been opened and was mostly empty. Holub was issued citations for Speeding, Open Container, Minor in Possession, and No Proof of Insurance. The vehicle was impounded.
