At 2:05 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, both the Anchorage Police Department and Anchorage Fire Department responded to a residence on the 400-block of Eagle Street in reference to a fire. When officers arrived they saw two citizens dragging the adult male victim from a burning apartment. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries. He was the only person inside the apartment.
Through the investigation it was determined that a relative of the victim’s, 66-year-old Freddie L. Fox, broke a window of the first-floor apartment from the outside, set an object on fire, and then threw both that burning object and an accelerant into the apartment. Fox immediately left the scene.
On Friday, February 21, 2020, Freddie Fox was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Attempted Murder I, Arson I, and Assault I. The motive for this crime is still under investigation.
