At 12:38 AM on December 3, 2019, Anchorage police responded to an alarm call at the Anchorage Sports Association located at 939 Pine Street. Upon arrival officers discovered the chain link fence had been bent and forced entry had been made through a door into the concession stand/press box. The alarm panel had been tampered with and pried off the wall. Several items had been strewn about and it appeared things had been taken.
There were fresh tracks in the snow leading both to and away from the property. After officers cleared the building to make sure no one was inside, K9 Rylin and other officers began a track. The track led the team east, almost to Boniface Parkway near 6th Avenue, where they located an individual in the woods. 41-year-old Donny H. Faafiti was taken into custody without incident after the K9 warnings were made. Property stolen from the concession stand was recovered from him.
41-year-old Donny H. Faafiti was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his outstanding warrant related to a Criminal Mischief charge. He was additionally charged with Burglary II, Criminal Mischief III, and Theft IV.
