Update on 12/19/19 at 4:30 PM:
On December 19, 2019, members of the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) took 19-year-old Maximilian P. Cutler into custody and transported him to the Anchorage Police Department where he was interviewed by detectives. Afterwards Cutler was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charge of Assault I for his role in the shooting.
This investigation remains open and more arrests are possible.
On 12/9/19 just after 8:00 p.m., Officers with the Patrol Division responded to a residential area on the 1500 block of Hoyt Street in reference to a report of a shooting.
The preliminary investigation found that an unidentified suspect fired multiple shots in the area and fled the scene. When officers arrived, they located one female victim who sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body. She has been transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. At this time, there are no other reported injuries and there have been no arrests. Officers have cause to believe this is an isolated incident. There are no additional details to release at this time as this is an on-going investigation.
There will be a large police presence in the area of the 1500 block of Hoyt Street for several hours as officers process the scene. Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
