Celebrate the bounty of summer at the Community Harvest Party on Saturday, August 24th! The event will be held from 11am to 2pm at the Bragaw Community Food Forest, located at 367 Bragaw St (Bragaw and E. 4th Ave).

Community members are invited to join Parks and Recreation for the second annual harvest day and learn more about the community food forest. Attendees can view and sample the varieties of fruit growing, which include apples, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, red currants, Saskatoon berries, and more. Kids can join horticulture staff in digging up potatoes out of raised beds at 11:30am, and there will be games such as hula hoops, jenga, and corn hole, fruit-themed coloring pages, and free barbecue available for those that attend.

The Bragaw Community Food Forest was created and is maintained by the Parks and Recreation Horticulture Department, and is open to the public during the day. Community food forests are edible ecosystems that provide space to grow and harvest food, improve local food security, serve as educational platforms, build community, and inspire positive relationships with the land.

This event is part of the National Recreation and Park Association’s 10-Minute Walk Campaign to connect more people to their local parks.
