The search for a 4th victim has concluded.

Traffic investigators have determined there were only three occupants inside the vehicle, not four.

The investigation continues into the cause of the crash.

Update 11/5/19 1:25AM:

On 11/5/19 at 12:15 a.m., Officers with the Patrol Division and firefighters with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to Minnesota Drive just north of Hillcrest Drive in reference to citizen reports of a high-speed car crash.

The preliminary investigation found that an SUV was traveling northbound on Minnesota Drive near Hillcrest Drive at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and crashed into the east side of the Westchester Lagoon. The vehicle was believed to be occupied by four adults. All occupants were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. One adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two adult females were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The Dive Search and Rescue Team has responded to the scene to search for a fourth victim who has not yet been located. There are no additional details at this time.

The identity of the deceased will be released pending next-of-kin procedures.

There will continue to be a large APD and AFD presence in the area; Northbound lanes of Minnesota Drive from W 25th to W 15th and I St. will remain closed until further notice. Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
