The Alaska Democratic Party is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Lindsay Kavanaugh to the position of Executive Director. Ms. Kavanaugh replaces Jay Parmley who recently left the position after almost three years.
Ms. Kavanaugh was hired after a series of rigorous interviews conducted by astatewide committee. Members were impressed with her strong leadership skills, her many professional accomplishments, and her dedication to promoting Democratic values. Ms. Kavanaugh has most recently served as professional staff for the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee. She has more than 15 years of experience working national security budget and policy issues in the U.S. Congress and the Department of Defense. She was responsible for strategy, operations, and all other functions of the subcommittee, including legislation and budget items.
She fell in love with Alaska while working with then-U.S. Senator Mark Begich, touring many of Alaska’s military installations as the principle advisor for appropriations, national security, and foreign relations issues. Her responsibilities included advancing the Senator’s legislative and appropriation priorities through bipartisan efforts which greatly benefited the state of Alaska.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Lindsay Kavanaugh join our team,” said Casey Steinau, State Party Chair. “Our state is at a political crossroads, and Lindsay will be a strong and firm hand on the wheel as we stand up for our Democratic values in the face of a Republican administration whose policies are being roundly rejected by the majority of Alaskans. Her strategic thinking, political skill, and track record of leadership will serve us well, and we welcome her in her new role.”
"I am honored to have been selected to serve as the Alaska Democratic Party Executive Director,” said Kavanaugh. “I'm excited, and ready to work hard in the field alongside Alaska Democrats. Together, we can work to put candidates in office who promote the values and principles that benefit the state, and all Alaskans.”
Ms. Kavanaugh will officially begin her new position in September.
